ForestrySA facilitates public access to local plantations under lease arrangement and also manages more than 12,500ha of Native Forest for conservation in the Limestone Coast. The vast local commercial forest estate provides plenty of opportunity for horse riding in a relaxed natural environment. Walking, horse riding, bike riding, cave diving and Ghost Mushroom hunting are popular activities in the Limestone Forest plantation areas.

Please keep to established tracks when driving and horse riding, and respect the forest environment, including flora, fauna and forest facilities. The plantation lease area is run as a commercial forest and members of the public are asked to avoid all operational activity and abide by signage and access restrictions. The network of existing fire break tracks within pine plantation areas is available for horse riding. For more information regarding forest reserves, please visit our website. Horse riding is not permitted in Native Forest Reserves, which have been set aside for conservation. Please avoid picnic areas. Consider other forest users during your ride.

A commercial user agreement may be required for some users (ie. professional racing, harness racing and trail riding). Please email us for more information.

For more information regarding forest tracks within plantation lease areas, view the forest maps available on our website, email us or contact our Mount Gambier office during business hours 08 87242888.
